Welcome!
We want to welcome you to Silly Monkey's Dayhome. We are very happy to be serving you in this way. By reading over our Policy and Procedures, we hope that you will catch a glimpse of what we offer here at our centre. We provide love and tender care to each child, recognizing that all children have basic needs. We also recognize that each child is unique and special. We treat each child with respect and dignity. We also provide a quality atmosphere where children and parents alike are made to feel happy and comfortable. We are open and receptive to parent’s suggestions, opinions, and criticism because it is through these as well as the compliments that we learn and grow to provide even better care.
Philosophy: I believe that the purpose of this dayhome is to assist the parents in the development of the whole child. The parents and I am partners in providing the optimal environment in which to enhance the natural curiosity and desire to learn inherent in each child. At this dayhome, situations are provided to help the child prepare to make social, emotional, cognitive, and physical adjustments in life. I believe children learn best from their own experiences. In a learning environment, I will help promote self-awareness and perpetual motor skills through planned, child-directed activities in which to give the child(ren) the hands-on experiences they need for total growth development.
Program Development: We seek to nurture learning in the areas of numbers, letters, reading readiness skills, small motor and large motor activities, puzzles, games, songs, stories, creative experiences, and dramatic play to name a few. Newsletters will be sent home periodically to inform you of upcoming events. We believe in supplying a solid foundation in language skills. We feel that communication is the under lying factor in all skills the child develops- be it understanding spatial relations, listening to a direction given by a teacher, or communicating our feelings to another person. As the child hears the language(words, sounds, and tones),he/she speaks. Thus, he/she learns to use the language in written form, he/she learns to read. Our programs are geared to highlighting the importance of language skills.
Ages of Children: We now offer part-time and full-time services for children 12 months of age up to 12 years. We do offer drop-in services for children 3 months and up. Spaces are limited for children 3-24 months of age. For those who are in school, we offer full-day care during Professional Activity Days and School holidays, but we do not offer before and after school at this time... sorry.
Sorry but we do not do subsidy as we are a privately run dayhome.
